Have you ever wondered what a normal vulva (the outer part of the vaginal area) should look like? And then perhaps worried that yours does not have what is portrayed as a normal look, like those you see in love films?
Well you are not alone. Many women of all ages (often in secret) have wondered, or felt their vulva area looks in some way, abnormal.
Many porn stars or steamy sex scenes on television shows, show the vaginal area looking perfectly tucked in with the inner labia skin neatly tucked inside the outer lip (labia majora).
This leads many women to believe that a normal looking vulva (outer vagina area) should look like this.
Some women with this belief go as far as having risky surgery to remove the inner lip skin (the labia minora) surgically, just so they can look the same down there.
The thing is…
There is No Such Thing as a Normal Vulva Shape
All outer vagina areas (vulva’s) look different. No two are the same color, size or shape. But there are five main shapes, as you will see in the video below:
(1) Ms Barbie – Also called The V shape:
The Labia Manora (inner lip) is neatly tucked inside the Labia Majora. This gives a tighter looking appearance. (This is the shape that is often shown in sex scenes in movies. Please note: A lot of the vaginal scenes or images you see on media are photoshopped – edited to look like what many claim should be normal).
(2) Ms Curtains
In this type, some of the Labia Manora (inner lip) peeks out in between the outer lip (the Labia Majora).
(3) Ms Puffs
In this type, the inner lips (the Labia Manora) is contained within the outer lips (the Labia Majora). These outer lips are either, full and puffed out, or thin and loose.
(4) Ms Horseshoe
In this type, the outer lips (Labia Majora) opens wider at the top (exposing some of the Inner lip -Labia Manora) but closes at the bottom. Giving a horseshoe look.
(5) Ms Tulip
This type gets its name because it resembles a tulip about to bloom, as part of the inner lip (the Labia Manora) is visible or peaks out from between the top to the bottom of the outer lip (the Labia Majora).
The Great Wall of Vagina’s
Due to many having confusion about what a womens vulva area should look like, British artist Jamie McCartney created a sculpture of various womens vulvas.
The Great Wall of Vagina’s began over half a decade ago. McCartney set out to make this project as broad and inclusive as possible.
The 9 metre long polyptych consists of four hundred plaster casts of vulvas, all of them unique, and arranged into ten large panels.
The age range of the women is from 18 to 76. Included are mothers and daughters, identical twins, transgendered men and women, as well as a woman pre and post natal, and another one pre and post labiaplasty.
The Great Wall of Vagina’s had become quite popular at exhibitions, and many women have volunteered to be cast.
So ladies, your precious lady area is most likely to be perfect just the way it is, regardless of what shape or size it is.
